Sustainable gifting

The holiday season is upon us and no matter how much I want to resist the commercialisation of the season, I do want to find some meaningful gifts that aren't throwaway rubbish.

Our winter retreats are featured in this Sustainable Holiday Gift Guide from JULAHAS. JULAHAS is an Amsterdam-based company that works with Indian craftspeople to make beautiful jackets and capes. This is one of their jackets in the photo below.

I love to give books that I find meaningful in the hope that they will inspire other people. I'm an Ambassador for the book Zen and the Art of Saving the Planet, based on my teacher Thich Nhat Hanh's teachings on the environment. It's a beautiful book and you might enjoy it.

If you want to offer yourself some zen and quiet time, our winter retreats are starting in January. More information at https://www.kathrynsheridan.com/retreats. We're focussing on rest and reconnection, with ourselves, other people and the world around us.

The retreat centre is my home in the south of Spain, near Almeria, which I've lovingly worked on to be ready to receive guests in calm and comfort. It's a gift to be able to offer this space for rest and change to people.

Whatever gifts you choose, I really hope you will be able to take some time and enjoy the upcoming holiday season. It can be a challenging time for many people but who doesn't need a break after the last couple of years?
