About the Event

Experience an outdoor ecotherapy session and share what needs to be shared in a gentle, supportive environment. On this special taster day, 1-hour sessions are available at 10am, 12.30pm, 2.30pm and 4.30pm. You should be able to select the time you want on this page when you book.

Ecotherapist Kathryn Sheridan holds a supportive space for you to share your hopes and struggles. Working together with nature, she combines a trauma-informed coaching approach with ecotherapy to help guide you towards more insight and understanding of your situation and clarity on your next steps. 

Where appropriate, Kathryn shares her own experience and resources, for example with climate grief and exhaustion or she can offer a mentoring approach to support you with questions about doing the work you're passionate about without burning out. Kathryn has a wide range of tools and training which helps her tailor the 1:1 session to your needs.

What is Ecotherapy?

Ecotherapy is the practical application of Ecopsychology, a field of psychology which explores our relationship and interconnectedness with nature. Ecopsychology believes that humans are not well and the planet is not well and that we cannot heal one without the other. Ecopsychology offers us a different lens on traditional psychology which tends to see most things as an individual issue that needs to be "fixed". In Ecopsychology, we take a more systemic view, including environmental and social justice in our approach. Ecotherapy is a wide field that includes many different therapeutic approaches which involve working therapeutically with nature in a reciprocal way.

What can I expect?

- Walking, not too far, not too fast

- Talking, answering questions, reflecting back

- Silence, mindful moments in the trees or with a question

- Sitting quietly, connecting with nature and ourselves

- Forest Mind exercises to help connect to nature

- Other Ecotherapy practices to help shift perspective or physically embody a question

- A kind, compassionate, confidential space with a trusted partner

- Fresh air and gentle movement


These 1:1 sessions allow us to tailor to your specific needs so please let Kathryn know beforehand if you have concerns with mobility or other physical or mental health concerns and she will adapt accordingly. Ecotherapy is a gentle therapeutic approach and should not be seen as a substitute for psychotherapy with a licensed therapist. Kathryn is a trauma-informed coach and Ecotherapy Practitioner, not a licensed psychotherapist.


We will meet at Bois de la Cambre. The exact meeting point will be provided before the session. It will be easily accessible.

Weather conditions and safety

Our session will go ahead in most weathers. We will not go out in high winds or storms as this is not safe. If we need to cancel because of the weather, we will find a new date or reimburse you.

Please dress appropriately. You need to be warm enough to stand around for a while. Long sleeves and trousers are recommended as we like the little creatures who live in the forest to stay in the forest and not go home with us. Bring a water bottle and a snack if you will need one. Both the guide and the forest would appreciate it if you don't wear perfume.


Invoices can be provided to your employer or for self-employed people. You may be able to access coaching with Kathryn as part of your organisation's wellness or training programmes. We find that budget is sometimes available for this type of therapeutic support, e.g. for "work/life balance coaching", "personal leadership training" etc. We also offer group sessions for teams and as part of meetings and internal events.
